GLYN DAVIES CALLS FOR A FRESH LOOK AT PARKINSON'S

Conservative AM for Mid and West Wales Glyn Davies is backing the campaign by the Parkinson's Disease Society for improved support for carers and a much clearer framework for commissioning services in Wales including a Mental Health Reform Measure to be established by the new Welsh Assembly Government.

The Welsh Conservative reform would be based on the principle of early availability of treatment.

 Commenting Glyn Davies said:

"I was very impressed by what the local Parkinson's Disease Society here in Montgomeryshire told me when I met them last Saturday. Early intervention really can be effective in treating a disease which affects about 6,500 people in Wales each year. Anyone who has a relative or friend who suffers or is a sufferer her/himself knows how devastating Parkinson's can be. It's high time we gave the treatment of Parkinson's the priority it deserves.
